Fast and Furious
(Government,Guns/Gun Control,Politics)

It used to be if someone mentioned "Fast and Furious", you thought of a movie with fast cars and some hot looking, macho guys. Not any more. Thanks to the ATF and our Justice Department, "Fast and Furious" now calls to mind the tragic death of a US Border Patrol agent, perhaps countless other deaths, and a whole bunch of weapons in the hands of some very dangerous people.

The Justice Department has admitted that weapons that were sold -- and supposed to be tracked -- as part of Operation Fast and Furious have been found at at least 11 violent crime scenes. According to the Los Angeles Times, these occurred in several Arizona cities as well as El Paso, Texas, "where a total of 42 weapons from the operation were seized at two crime scenes," states the paper.

According to the government, Operation Fast and Furious was to track guns being smuggled over the border, into the hands of Mexican drug cartels, thus identifying suspects. Surprise, surprise, it failed miserably. Assuming that really was its purpose all along.

Okay, I admit I've gotten a bit cynical about our government, particularly over the last few years. But I've got to suspect the actual motives of this operation. This administration has been quite clear on its stance on the Second Amendment and gun ownership. What a perfect way to demonize gun shops. Prove they've been doing 'straw man' gun purchases, feeding violent criminals with dangerous weapons. That's why we need even more gun laws. Right. Sadly for the government, those gun shops spilled the beans, telling how they reported suspicious purchases, but were told by ATF to allow them. I'm completely disgusted by this debacle.
